Owen Lester Cade was born on March 6, 1926 in Vallejo, California to the parents of Owen Alderson Cade and Alley Mae Cade. The family moved to San Diego when he was three. We remember Dad telling us of how he herded the cattle in the fields of Pacific Beach. Les attended La Jolla High School and enlisted in the Armed Services at the age of seventeen. He met the love of his life, Margaret Rebecca Austin when she was fifteen, and he was seventeen, at a dance held at the Pacific Beach Women’s Club. They married on April 6, 1947, on a nickel and a dime. Margaret even borrowed her wedding dress! They raised us two girls, Rebecca Jane, born September 19, 1949, and Claudia May, born May 27, 1952. Les had two grand-daughters, Rebecca Margaret and Angela Diane, and a great grand-daughter Tyanna Nicole.
